How to read this map

Full map

The map is a schematic: it shows roughly where places sit so you can find a sheet, and it can't tell you which side of a line your house is on.

The drawing

We drew the shapes by hand from general geography. They are not traced from official boundary files, and they leave out most of the real wiggle. Nothing on this site should be read as a survey, a plat or a service-area map. Use it to find your sheet, then use your own bills and the official maps to settle your address.

Sheets and jobs

A numbered sheet covers a place. Each one has a key to who does what, then what's particular to that place, then what the map can't tell you, then how to check your own address. A job page covers one piece of work across all the places, and points back to the sheets.

The symbols in the key

  • Blue disc: water.
  • Brown square: sewer.
  • Orange triangle: plumbing permits.
  • Purple star: licensing.
  • Open ring: lead pipes.
  • Dashed box: what the map can't tell you.

Survey notes

Every page ends with its sources. Where an official site wouldn't open for us, the note says the fact comes from a search listing of that page rather than the page itself. Treat those with extra care and confirm them with the office named.
